Drift Retired, New device name unveiled.

The Drift has officially been retired, and has been removed from Helio.com. If you’re looking to get one, best run to one of the retail spots quick - The retired phones don’t usually last long.
Oh Drift, how we loved thee. Your 2 megapixel camera never failed to catch that fleeting moment, your locational based services never.. erm.. let us get lost. Why must you leave us so soon, at such a tender young age? Oh, right - You got replaced by the Fin. Bye, Drift!
A few weeks back, we noted a new device that had shown up at the FCC. That device might have just gotten its “Helio” branding; over at the U.S Trademark Office, a new trademark has popped up for the Helio “Mysto”. (To check it out for yourself, head to the UPSTO and search for “Helio Mysto”)
The new name brings with it much speculation:
- The next device is actually a Magical Detective.
- Zomg wtf is it? (Okay, fine - theres not really that much to speculate about.)
Whoever decided on the name “Mysto” deserves a high-five, as it’s easily our favorite device name yet. Staying true to Helio’s pattern of surfing oriented names, the name comes from the term “Mysto Spot”. A “Mysto Spot” is an awesome, but rare surf spot - only found under ideal conditions, or far from the main breaks of the beach.

Interesting. I never made the connection to surfing… I knew they had some sort of water fetish, but now the surfing angle all makes sense. Sky Dayton, the CEO of Helio, is major into surfing and nearly every article written about him references his surfing hobby.

[...] It’s been only a year, but the Helio Drift slider has been phased out of Helio’s lineup, and should be soon replaced by a Helio “Mysto”. Heliocity discovered a new filing at the USPTO for the Mysto, but unlike the FCC, the USPTO doesn’t tell tales of lovers gone by. It’s unlikely that the Mysto is the next generation Helio Ocean, seeing as the Ocean’s only been on the market for about half a year. So the only questions is whether the Mysto is a slider or a flip—Helio, unlike Kirstie Alley, doesn’t seem to like candybars. [Heliocity] [...]

@SomeCallMeHeysus:
No pictures of the device yet.
Theres a picture of the back of what is assumed to be the Helio Mysto, the SPH-A523. No idea if that’s actually the Mysto, of course.
