Helio begins offering refurbs through “Helio Refreshed” Program

We didn’t see this one coming, but it’s definitely a bit of good news: Helio is now offering refurbished devices through their new “Helio Refreshed” program. Only Oceans are offered at the moment.
The pricing surprised us a bit – that is, that it’s pretty friggin’ good. You can grab yourself a nice-and-polished Ocean (certified by both the OEM and Helio) for about 40% of the price you’d pay for a brand new one. At just $99 bucks, it should be the last thing you need to convince those stingy friends to hop on board (gettin you some free monthage, of course). Much better than the “Just a bit cheaper than normal price” a lot of companies charge for refurbs.
You’ll get the same goodies in the box you’d get if you bought it new, the only real difference being that the sleeve around the box is plain white rather than decorated with shots of the Ocean.
Update: This program is only available through Helio Direct (Helio.com and Telephone sales only), not through meatspace stores or third party retailers. Also, rumors and Customer Service chatter indicate that they might be adding the Drift and the Heat to the Refreshed programed in December.

I wonder whether these devices will be available to authorized Helio dealers through the U.S., or only through the Helio website?

does anyone know if I can get a refurbished model even if I already have a contract? my ocean broke and this would be preferable to paying over $200 for a used model on ebay…
thanks!

I should have check the forums first, but I did and you can get a refurbished model even if you have a contract. Just call Helio support and tell them. It’s $145 if you’ve had Helio less than a year, but my customer service rep was very clearly new at the job and gave me the $100 rate. They also charge $10 for shipping but that is supposedly waived before the credit transaction goes through. So basically I just got a new Helio for $100 and I get to keep my old battery!

I ordered my ocean today. As soon as I seen this. I’m still keeping my fin though. I just want both
