New Fin TV Spot
Posted by Greg Kumparak on August 17th, 2007 at 02:29 AMOur e-mail inbox is full of people asking where our Fin review is - Don’t worry, we didn’t forget.
I wanted to spend a full 24 hours with the Fin before writing anything about it, rather than rushing to be one of the first sites with a review. It’s really hard to judge a new device off of a few hours of use - the quirks never come out until you’re actually using the device rather than playing with it. That covered, I have a whole lot to say about the Fin. Ya’ll wanted a review, prepare yourselves for a short novel.
It’ll go live sometime tomorrow evening, and should cover anything you might be wondering about.
In the mean time, check out the new Fin TV Spot:
Looks like Helio is starting to get the hang of this whole commercial thing. They maintain the art style we loved from the Ocean Tv spots, but brought in a narrator to explain what was going on. This was one of sole complaints about the older ads - People who didn’t already know about the devices didn’t always understand what they were seeing. This seems like a much better way to do things - I hope they stick with it. Oddly, the “Don’t call it a phone” line doesn’t make an appearance in this one.

nice choice to get a little familiar with the device before talking about it lol. that gizmodo/justin tv review was horrid. judging by his unfamiliarity with the menus, it appeared as if the reviewer had never even held a helio device before. i think he even took a shower while his fin was activated. wow.
really can’t wait for heliocity’s review!

[...] Wordless/Abstract commercials with the Fin spots, and we commended the direction they were going in then. Definitely stoked to see the Ocean gettin’ a similar treatment. [...]
