In my experience, it you're not in 3G you won't get a notification. I have been in analog most of the time at work and only really get a text or phone call notification, so very basic service.

is there any way that i can get the helio device to make an audible sound as the messages get pushed thru, instead of getting an icon and having to physically check the phone?

I tried this out yesterday, and like most others - it took a good 20-30 minutes for the first test e-mail to come through. Since then, it appears to only be taking about 30-60 seconds to come through. So, I think it's an initial load thing.

I also set up GMail to forward a copy of e-mails to my Helio e-mail address, and those have the same 30-60 second delay now. Pretty sweet if you ask me.
