CTIA 08: Samsung booth shows off Second Life’s “Orgy Room”

Posted by Greg Kumparak on April 1st, 2008 at 02:31 PM

When we stopped by Samsung’s booth today, they were showing off their Second Life mobile tie-in. Mobile chat, world map, friends list - the works. To be honest, we’re not really sure what the product itself was for - we were too distracted by the displays above, where bystanders could check out what this “Second Life” thing was by watching someone play the actual game.

Linden Lab’s Second Life is a great idea on paper. Fully customizable worlds! An amazing economy! A real social experience! While that represents a small chunk of the game, they don’t really mention a significant popular aspect of it: people walking around dressed like furries, gettin’ cyber lovin’ in user made e-sex clubs for virtual money.

This definitely held true for the part of the game displaying on the Samsung booth TVs. Whether some joker thought it’d be awesome to fly out to Orgy Land and walk away, or if it was for some crazy reason intentional, we’re not sure - however, we do know that watching those guys in the Samsung getups uncomfortably demo’ing the product, hoping the people around them couldn’t read, was pretty great.
