Early shipment Mystos made available to existing customers

Posted by Greg Kumparak on January 6th, 2008 at 08:34 PM

Two weeks ago, we pointed out that a small shipment of Mystos had been made available at the Helio stores in Santa Monica and New York. We later revised the story after finding out that they were only being made available prior to the official relaunch to those who weren’t already in contract.

Well, looks like that’s changed: Existing members can now get in on the pre-launch goodies for $320 bucks ($149 w/ new contract), placing it right between the Fin and the Heat on the pricing scale. It still has a few more weeks before it hits the shelves, so you still have a while to be the first person on the block with one.

    1st. So… If your 2-year contract is nowhere near up will I still be eligible for this? To add another year making it 3-total-years? LOL

  2. Greg K. Says:

    @Joannie:

    You’ll be able to get it at $320 regardless of your contract status.

    $320?! Jesus. Does it make julienne fries and turn water to wine? I’ve never understood the pricing schedule for all of these cell companies. I understand that it’s an industry standard to rape your customers for an upgrade if they don’t want to extend their contract, but it seems so… unethical.

    do you no the exact launch date on the mysto

    320 dollars for this???? Seriously! I can’t wait till I am done with Helio. This phone is underwhelming, overpriced, crippled (camera from 3.2 to 2), and boring.

  6. MR.ADAM Says:

    ..Its not coming from a 3.2 to a 2. It’s not a remade u600 it’s coming from it’s already 2.0 cdma brother of the u600 which is a 2. Camera

  7. Dorian Says:

    Yeah whatever!
    Now, about that review?

    i wouldnt pay half that for this phone .please tell me.. why go from ocean to mysto? Because its NEW? the ocean set itself as the best phone that helio offers .market somthing that will have QWERTY a 3mp camera and blow away the ocean.and im sold.otherwise me and others will just turn away.thats my 2 cents anyways.why is everyone going nutz about this phone anyways.ask yourself this what can mysto do that ocean cant.besides a couple bug fixes i see no reason for me to get this.if it was qwerty then possably .
    No qwerty
    No sale from me atleast

    @Dorian:

    Yeah - we’re gettin’ antsy too. It’s all typed up and ready to go, just waiting on a notable feature (the TellMe app) to come down the pipes. If it’s not out within another day or two, we’ll probably just publish it and then amend it later.

    @frank:

    This is something that comes up on the forums whenever new non-qwerty devices come out, and tends to lead to big long posts. The “short” answer: Helio has other markets to stay on top of, besides the one we (as in gadget geeks, power users, or others who expect and require QWERTY.) make up. With a massive percentage of the market (happily) using flips and sliders, they’d be surrendering a massive group of potential customers by not offering devices like Fin and Mysto.

    At least they brought out something new….it’s been a while.

  11. joannie Says:

    sorry. what i meant was… could i get this phone for the contract price with my stated conditions? full price wouldnt be worth it and if possible id like to add a third year to my two year contract instead. true story… im only 4 months into my contract.

  12. steven Says:

    qwerty is good but you guys overrate it…any phone that comes out now you say sucks cause it doesnt have qwerty which is getting ridiculous now…if i was to get any qwerty phone it would be the voyager…that blows the ocean away no doubt…now thats what helio needs to release…but i like this mysto, reminds me of my old chocolate…anyone know the official release date…still doesnt say anything on their english website

  13. Greg K. Says:

    @Joannie: Never heard of anyone doin’ that - not sure it can be done. However, you might be able to get a Mysto at new member price at a third party retailer (Fry’s or FYE) once they’re actually on the market.

  14. Joannie Says:

    @ Greg K.

    At fry’s (which i happen to already work for LOFFLF + retail discount LOL som’more) or anywhere else for that matter won’t I only qualify for the “new member price” if i’m actually going to BE a new member? Like, signing a brand-new contract thus opening another account? Or, if i’m wrong please clarify so I can get my hands on this sexy thing. =D

  15. Greg K. Says:

    Fry’s seem to be sort of hit or miss about actually requiring you to sign up for a new contract; some people have walked out the door with it at new member price during sales. Doubt rebates would work, of course.

  16. Tyler! Says:

    Greg… I don’t seem to see where I, as a current Helio member, can get a new contract for a 2nd line and be able to order the Mysto. How would I go about doing this?

  17. SK Says:

    The Helio
    Mysto is in!!!!!!!!!

    Yorktown Kiosk
    Lombard IL

    150 / with 2 year
