New Helio trademark, “SmoothPay”

Trademarks are exciting. It’s like when you find an easter egg, but haven’t opened it yet. You know theres something inside, but you have no idea if it’s something awesome (delicious chocolate) or something meh (a rock).
A few days ago Helio filled a new trademark for something going by “SmoothPay”. While we have no idea what it is, based off the trademark description (”Bill Payment Services”) we’re guessing that it’s probably not a delicious chocolate. While my initial hope was that it meant I’d be able to flash my Ocean at debt collectors to coax them into believing they actually owe me money, that’s probably just not the case.

“SmoothPay went live at Helio company-owned retail stores and kiosks only on Friday. New members can sign up at those locations under the following terms:
* Pay a prepayment of only $150, instead of a deposit. The prepayment will be applied to the member’s first monthly bill.
* Pay a no-contract term fee of $100.
* Enroll in Auto Bill Pay at point of sale.
SmoothPay is not a prepaid service (beyond the first month, anyway) - it’s simply another way for folks to begin their Helio membership.”

That is the funniest thing I have read all day!! That would be a dope feature to add to the Ocean. Maybe it’s just a way to pay your bill through the internet on your Helio?

Ok….if any of you guys read my thread about the “no deposit” this is what that is….Its not “Speed Pay” its “SmoothPay”….I had the name mixed up…but if you go to that thread then thats what this trademark is about!
The Helio rep showed me the sheet with SmoothPay and how it works.

does this mean that customers dont have to sign a contract anymore if they give $100? that is fantastic if that is the case. just like the old days when all you had to do was mention that you heard about helio from myspace

JUST AN FYI .. F YOU GO TO A CHICAGO CORP KIOSK AFTER MARCH 5TH. YOU CAN SIGN UP FOR SMOOTH PAY WITHOUT THE 100 NO CONTRACT FEE..

wait so basically if i waited a couple of months i wouldnt have needed to sign a 2 yr contract? wtf helio screwed the loyal older customers…i hate contracts…but i wanted ocean oh so bad.
