Virgin Mobile reveals SKT board members
Posted by Justin B. on September 16th, 2008 at 03:37 PMToday Virgin Mobile USA announced their two new board of directors as result from the merge between our beloved Helio and VMUSA. Richard Chin, who is president of SK Telecom Americas, and Sungwon Suh, Executive Vice President, Head of Global Strategy and Investment for SK Telecom (who was also on the board for Helio).
Both have plenty of experience in the industry and will hopefully have some great input on the future of Helio through Virgin Mobile. Read the whole press release HERE.

It appears that Virgin Mobile has some pretty influential SKT board members but from what I read Helio was already partnered with SKT, so the merge between Virgin Mobile and Helio was really unnecessary, and truthfully a sell-out for Helio.
What I don’t understand is what Virgin Mobile really brings to the plate for Helio? From my experience and the experiences from friends who have used Virgin Mobile, it has bad service, and is quite expensive. The name is also offensive (is it designed for virgins or something)?
Helio was really unique and innovative when it was by itself. The name was unique, their logo, their slogan, their presence..I was proud to be different and have a great working phone with superior customer support with my Helio. Now I’m afraid of this merge…I don’t think it was the best idea.
I hope if anything Helio will just gain some control and influence with Virgin Mobile and improve their service (but still I ask myself why, it just seems like extra work for Helio to me). I do look forward to seeing more phones compatible with Helio as Virgin Mobile has a bit more phones to offer currently. I do also hope these board members make good decisions for Helio (as a company) and its members, AKA us!
Come on better service and better phones!
Helio, don’t you guys lose your customer support! That’s one of the BEST features about your company!
