How to convert video files to 3GP2 (Windows)

The Process for Windows:

  1. Download the free “3GP Converter” from VideoHelp.
  2. Unpackage the 3GP Converter using your tool of choice (i.e WinRar or 7zip). Stick it anywhere convenient, preferably in its own folder.
  3. Run the “setup.exe” file that came in the 3GP converter zip.
  4. Configure your screen as shown below for best results, press Apply.
  5. Configuration

  6. 3GP_Converter should open. Set the dropdown box to “QVGA Normal Quality 15FPS”. The “QCIF” option sometimes allows for more stable framerates, but the audio often jumps out of sync.
  7. Set the Output directory to whatever folder you wish to keep the converted video files in before pushing them over to your device. You can use the same folder you’re using to hold 3GP converter, if you wish. You can also use your desktop, for convenience.
  8. Drag and drop any video files you wish to convert into the labeled box. They will be dumped in the folder you specified in the last step. Note: Longer movies will sit at “Processing” for a while, even after the status bar reaches 100%. Do not close the program until the converted 3gp file is output to the specified folder.

These files are now ready to be put on your device.

Ocean Specific Instructions:

After connecting the device via USB (See FAQ for help), you can choose to store video files on internal or external memory (MicroSD).

If you’re storing them in internal memory, drag these files to the “Video” folder on the Helio Ocean drive.

If you’re storing them on a MicroSD stick, drag these files to the “Helio Video” folder on your MicroSD drive.

These videos will be stored under “(4) Video and Music” on your Ocean device.

Enjoy!
